Hello! I’m Sophie. For those who don’t know me yet or are curious about my journey, here’s a bit about how I got here...
At the age of 8, my parents bought me my first watch on holiday. It was a gold-coloured plastic piece that played an annoyingly catchy tune, and the hands would dance when you pressed the crown for a few seconds. It was tacky and awful—and I absolutely loved it.
My passion for illustration also started early, sparked by watching my uncle meticulously draft architectural drawings in his home office. This love for art ultimately led me to pursue a career in design, culminating in an MA in Graphic Design and Illustration.
While at university, I bought my next watch: an oversized, black Chilli Beans monster that I wore religiously - until the battery ran out just a few months later. Since then, I’m happy to say my taste in watches has evolved.
After graduation, I moved to London with a small collection of Casio classics and a special edition Swatch. In London, I gained invaluable experience working in various creative roles, including as an assistant to renowned fashion photographer Rankin, a Picture Researcher for the men’s fashion magazine ARENA, and an assistant at a leading illustration agency. These experiences sharpened my skills and deepened my love for creative expression.
Now back in Gloucestershire, my watch collection has grown, and I channel my love for art, design, and horology into creating unique artworks for watch brands and enthusiasts. When I’m not immersed in my work, you’ll likely find me exploring art galleries with a sketchbook in hand or diving deeper into the world of vintage watches (yes, I’ve fully embraced the watch-collecting obsession). My work focuses on capturing the finest details - whether it’s a beautifully designed dial or the intricate mechanics of a movement.
Join me as I blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, creating pieces that celebrate the art of time.
P.S. If you’d like to have one of your own watches - or a coveted grail - illustrated into a portrait, feel free to reach out here.
